Last year I went to DLC and had a blast, and since then I could not wait to go again. So wake up and grab your coffee because I’m about to tell you the top 5 things to look forward to at DLC!
1. Meeting new sisters
There is just something about being surrounded by your sisters that makes everything better. What’s even more exciting is that you’re not only surrounded by sisters you’ve come to know and love, but also ones you’ve never met! Whether you run into a sister in the Starbucks line, or in the lobby, one of the best things about DLC is networking with other chapters! Don’t be afraid to introduce yourself and ask questions, especially if you meet someone in the same officer position as you. If you do have a question, this is the most resourceful place to ask.
2. Boutique Greek
We, as collegiate sorority members, have a mindset that you can never have too much ADPi gear, especially shirts. The wonderful thing about DLC is that Boutique Greek comes with their most popular styles and accessories. We all spend way too much money on shirts, but one more won’t hurt!
3. Information Overload
If you’re like me, you’ve already started planning for the whole semester. But, when you get to DLC they tell you a lot of new information about your officer position and the improvements Alpha Delta Pi made to our programs. After hearing it all, it feels overwhelming and almost like you are cramming for a final.
But holding this wealth of knowledge is empowering. Your chapter trusted you to be in this officer position to lead the way for a better tomorrow. With this in mind, it is important to write everything down, ask a lot of questions, and take advantage of this weekend. My favorite analogy is “life is like a vending machine: you only get out of it what you put in it.” If you give as much as you can into this weekend, you will go home to your chapter like the boss woman you are and help grow your chapter to be the best it can be.
4. TONS of picture opportunities
I’m sure many of you snap a few pictures at every chapter event for the ‘gram. Whether you prefer selfies, Boomerangs, Snapchats, or group pics, this is the perfect place to do it. Since DLC is 3 days long, think of all the opportunities you have!
5. Bonding
Naturally, when you’re surrounded by your sisters, you’re going to have a great time. You get to travel together and go through the same experience.
Being surrounded by other officers who just heard a great deal of new information makes you want to sit around in someone’s hotel room trying to figure how to implement these new ideas for the betterment of your chapter. It’s so easy to goof off and have late night chats about the amazing ideas you want to implement and try out. Ultimately, these girls are going to help you through all of the trials and tribulations you face in the next year. And to just think it can all start in a hotel room.
At the end of the weekend, there are going to be so many things that you’re going to look back on and cherish forever. But something to remember is that we’re all here so we can go home and mold our chapters into the best they can be. So, grab your pencil and paper and let’s get to work! Are you ready?
