Donor Spotlight: Tracy Garner

Tracy Garner, Zeta Omicron—Georgia Institute of Technology, endowed the Tracy L. Garner Leadership Fund for Zeta Omicron through the Alpha Delta Pi Foundation to help more sisters from her chapter take advantage of leadership opportunities available in Alpha Delta Pi. Tracy is a Foundation Trustee, Summit Society member, and Alpha Delta Pi Past Grand Council member. Professionally, Tracy is Vice President of Service Delivery and Assurance at AT&T in Atlanta.

Q: What inspired you to direct your gift to leadership programming?

A: I have a real passion for leadership. I fully recognize how much I learned about leading when I was a collegiate member of Zeta Omicron and I know what a difference that has made in my professional life.

Q: How do you envision this fund benefitting Zeta Omicron and Alpha Delta Pi over time?

A: I am excited about how this fund can help Zeta Omicron and Alpha Delta Pi. I was blessed to attend Leadership Seminar or Grand Convention every year that I was at Georgia Tech and I really credit those experiences with helping me understand that this sisterhood really is for a lifetime. Because of that, I have always been involved either as a member of an alumnae association, an advisor, an international officer, a member of Grand Council or a Foundation Trustee. I hope by providing additional members with those same experiences that I had many years ago, that they will go on to serve our sisterhood in some capacity.

Q: What is your favorite part of serving as a Foundation Trustee?

A: Wow, that is a tough question to answer because I have so many favorite parts. I guess if I have to say one thing, it would be the opportunity to meet so many sisters who have a real passion for giving back to our sisterhood. It is a constant reminder that our sisters truly do believe that Alpha Delta Pi is a way of life.

Q: Have you seen other donors moved to support leadership development for our sisters recently?

A: Oh yes! We have already had several donors designate their gifts to support various components of leadership training – whether it is establishing a chapter specific leadership fund, supporting the sorority’s signature leadership program Adelphean Compass or [IMPACT Alpha Delta Pi] our emerging leader training or allowing their generous gift to be used for future leadership needs. It is truly exciting to see so many sisters line up behind this really important area.
