Since our founding, Alpha Delta Pi members have worked to attain and represent the highest ideals possible in every phase of life. Our ability as a sorority to reach that goal and in turn enrich and enhance the well-being of others, depends upon the standards and dedication of our individual members. Alpha Delta Pi has a proud tradition in the quality of its membership. An Alpha Delta Pi aims to be a mature person, gracious and respectful of others and of herself. She is conscious of the fact that her personal conduct, attitudes, and standards affect the welfare and reputation of Alpha Delta Pi. Each member must guard the honor and privilege of her Alpha Delta Pi membership and each chapter should develop a standards program which encourages the positive development of each member.

Alpha Delta Pi holds its members accountable for the following:

1.	Laws, Rules and Policies. Alpha Delta Pi members will abide by all federal, state/province and local laws, as well as the standing rules, policies, standards, and Bylaws of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority, the local chapter and the university/college/Panhellenic.

2.	Membership. Alpha Delta Pi is a private membership organization for women, which
affirms the worth of every individual. Alpha Delta Pi actively encourages a membership which represents a diverse population and does not discriminate in membership selection procedures.

3.	Moral Conduct. Alpha Delta Pi expects a sister to have a set of personal standards, which commands self-respect. An Alpha Delta Pi member conducts herself so as to be a credit to her sisters and to her sorority as an Alpha member, as a Delta member and as an alumna member. Personal pride, integrity, honesty, and respect should govern the attitude, appearance, language, manners, and conduct of each Alpha Delta Pi member. Actions speak louder than words and the actions of an Alpha Delta Pi must always be consistent with our high ideals, principles, and values. Anything less is hypocritical and unacceptable.

4.	Confidentiality. Alpha Delta Pi is a secret society. Loyalty to Alpha Delta Pi, to its ideals, to its principles, and to the sisters, is expected of each member. Alpha Delta Pi ritual and sorority business are private and belong only to members; accordingly, members will not communicate ritual or sorority business to non-members.

Members may not participate in any radio, television, or video broadcasting or respond to any media request or answer questionnaires/surveys from any outside source, which asks for information about sorority life, routines, or recruitment without prior approval from the individual identified in the Media Plan posted on the Alpha Delta Pi website, www.alphadeltapi.org.

5.	Scholarship. Alpha Delta Pi expects that each of its members will be committed to high academic standards and will exemplify that commitment through classroom attendance and performance. All members will support and participate in the chapter scholarship program, provide the Scholarship Chair with their grades from each term, and seek help when there is a problem or a potential problem.

6.	Finance. Finance. Each member shall promptly meet her financial obligations, in full by the due date specified on the issued invoice. Members not meeting financial obligations, in full, shall be placed into the financial delinquency process.  Delinquency notices are sent via email to the email account the member entered in Pi Portal. The delinquency process is defined as: 
 
Part 1:  Five Days Past Due - Member account is considered delinquent.  

Part 2:  Twenty Days Past Due - Member account continues to be delinquent and Membership is Suspended. The member is not allowed to attend chapter functions.

Part 3:  Thirty-five Days Past Due - Member account continues to be considered delinquent and Membership is Cancelled.

7.	Hazing. No chapter, colony, student, or alumna shall conduct, participate in, nor condone hazing activities. Permission or approval by a person being hazed is not a defense. Hazing activities are defined as: "Any action taken, or situation created, intentionally, whether on or off sorority premises, to produce mental or physical discomfort, embarrassment, harassment, or ridicule.” This includes activities which are not consistent with academic achievement, fraternal law, ritual, or policy or the regulations and policies of the educational institution or applicable state law. Alpha Delta Pi sorority promotes fellowship and sisterhood among its members and practices positive educational programming. Hazing in no way achieves this goal. Alpha Delta Pi does not segregate pre-initiated members from initiated members without a constructive purpose in mind.

Alpha Delta Pi prohibits practices which include but are not limited to kidnapping, scavenger hunts,
walkouts, new member sneaks, road trips, or the use or display of paddles.

8.	Wellness. Wellness is a state of optimum health and well-being, achieved through the active pursuit of
good health and the removal of barriers to healthy living. Alpha Delta Pi is committed to the
enhancement of well-being through the promotion of physical, mental, and social development. We
expect members to take personal responsibility for their health by developing understanding attitudes
and practices which contribute to positive lifestyles.

9.	Alcohol. The use of alcohol is a matter of personal choice for those of legal drinking age. Each member is expected to make responsible choices regarding alcohol. Misuse or abuse of alcohol reflects unfavorably on the public image of Alpha Delta Pi and the entire Greek system and has the potential for serious health risks.

All members of Alpha Delta Pi will abide by all federal, state/province and local laws and university/college policy regarding the use of alcohol.

At all Alpha Delta Pi functions where alcohol is consumed, the following guidelines will be in effect
and will be followed:

a. Those consuming alcohol will have a valid picture ID with birth date. The chapter is
responsible for taking measures to ensure IDs are checked at the door to physically identify
(i.e. non-removable wristband, non- transferable stamp or marking, etc.) those of legal drinking
age.

b. All persons attending a function who are of legal age will have a wristband or other unique
identifier applied designating that they are of legal drinking age if they intend to consume
alcoholic beverages.

c. Alpha Delta Pi events with alcohol must be closed events with specific invitation and shall not
exceed two guests per member.

No alcoholic beverages may be purchased through the chapter funds nor may the purchase of same for
members and guests be undertaken or coordinated by any member in the name of, or on behalf of, the
chapter. The purchase or use of a bulk quantity of common sources of such alcoholic beverage is
prohibited.

Alcohol will not be brought into, stored, consumed, or served in a house, lodge, room, apartment or
other location being used or operated as a chapter facility.

No members, collectively or individually, shall purchase for, serve to, or sell alcoholic beverages to any
minor (i.e., those under legal "drinking age").

No chapter may attend, co-host, or participate with an alcohol distributor, charitable organization, or
tavern (tavern defined as an establishment generating more than half of annual gross sales from alcohol)
where alcohol is given away, sold, or otherwise provided to those present.

No chapter may co-sponsor or co-finance a function where alcohol is purchased by any of the host
chapters, groups, or organizations.

All recruitment activities associated with any chapter shall be substance free.

No member shall participate in "drinking games" at Alpha Delta Pi events.

No chapter shall host or organize pub crawls.

Any ritual, new member program or activity, and activity where attendance by all members is expected shall be substance free.

No Alpha Delta Pi sponsored event can take place outside the country in which the chapter is located.

10.	Illegal Drugs and Controlled Substances. The possession, sale or use of any federally classified
illegal drugs or unprescribed controlled substance, as well as the abuse of any prescribed controlled
substance is strictly prohibited while on chapter premises, during an event or in any situation sponsored
or endorsed by the chapter, or in any event an observer would associate with the sorority.

Chapters are expected to uphold federal law (not state) around illegal drugs and controlled substances.
 
11.	Media, Websites and the Internet. Members must use discretion when using all forms of the media
and the Internet, including social networking sites. It is an expectation of membership that a member
will not use the name or letters of Alpha Delta Pi, the name of any chapter or references to lions, violets,
etc. in any media content that is in conflict with Alpha Delta Pi policies and standards.

12.	Housing and Visitation. Where Alpha Delta Pi facilities are provided, it is maintained for the benefit
of all members, and, as the official residence of a chapter, it impacts the campus image of that chapter.

A positive reflection of Alpha Delta Pi social standards is to be conveyed at all times. Therefore, there
shall be no visitation of an intimate nature allowed in the chapter facility and no twenty-four-hour male
or partner visitation policy permitted by any chapter standing rules or house corporation rules.

Male and partner visitation are to be limited to the social areas of the chapter house, lodge, suite, or
apartment.

All members must take responsibility to ensure that the chapter housing unit is filled to capacity before
considering any other living arrangement.

13.	Out-of-Town Parties and Overnight Accommodations. Out-of-Town Social Events: In the event
a chapter holds a social function beyond reasonable walking distance, all members and guests attending
shall travel to and from the event by bus or commercial transportation within the same day or evening.
Transportation exceptions are permitted only with written approval from the Collegiate Province
Director.

14.	Sexual Abuse and Harassment. College women should have a position of influence in the direction
and achievements of the university community and activities should promote self-worth, human
dignity, and a positive Greek image. Members shall not tolerate or condone any form of sexist or
sexually abusive behavior on the part of its members, whether physical, mental, or emotional. This is
to include any actions, activities, or events, whether on chapter premises or an off-site location which
are demeaning to women or men, including but not limited to verbal harassment, sexual assault by
individuals or members acting together. The employment or use of strippers, exotic dancers, or similar,
whether professional or amateur, at a sorority event as defined in the Statements of Policy shall not be
allowed.

15.	Fighting and Physical Abuse. Alpha Delta Pi will not tolerate or condone any form of fighting or
physically abusive behavior while on chapter premises or during a sorority event, in any situation
sponsored or endorsed by the chapter, or at any event a reasonable observer would associate with the
sorority.

16.	Auxiliary Groups. According to National Panhellenic Conference Unanimous Agreement X,
members shall denounce participation of undergraduate Panhellenic women in auxiliary groups to
men’s fraternities and in men’s primary recruitment activities.

17.   Enforcement of the Standards Code. Any member found to be in violation of this Standards Code
is subject to disciplinary measures or membership cancellation as provided in the Bylaws of Alpha
Delta Pi Sorority. Implementation of the procedures for handling infractions of the Standards Code is
the responsibility of the Standards Council and the Executive Board.

In addition to the conduct defined in this Standards Code, any action by a member, which adversely
affects Alpha Delta Pi, herself, or any other member is specifically prohibited, and the member is subject
to the same procedural provisions as are those members whose conduct is specifically addressed herein.
